Storage for Improved RV Organization

Spring is finally here, and if you’re one of the millions of people who spring clean, you may be ready to organize and declutter your RV.

If it’s time to get your RV organized and a bit less chaotic, Uncle John’s RV residential living and storage near Bonney Lake, WA, has a few simple tips and tricks to make sure you can have a clean and organized RV this spring and summer as you hit the road.

First, Declutter

This one may seem simple but it’s difficult to actually do. In an RV, where space is always at a premium, you need to make sure every single item inside is something you need and use, otherwise you’ll lose space quickly.

So, go through everything and take inventory of what you have. If it’s something you use frequently, it can stay. If it’s used infrequently or not at all, self-storage may be a good option in case you do need it in the future. The same goes for holiday and other seasonal items.

If you have duplicate items (like multiple pairs of shoes or kitchen tools), only keep the one you really need in the RV and put the others in storage.

Use Functional Furniture

One of the best ways to organize your RV is to use functional furniture. This means using furniture that has more than one use. A great example of this is a bed frame that opens and has storage inside or an ottoman or couch that has storage inside or underneath.

This will help preserve precious space in your RV and help it feel less cluttered and chaotic and more organized and clean.

Use Your Vertical Space

Another simple fix if your RV needs organizing is to make better use of vertical space. This means using things like hanging racks or fruit and vegetable hammocks. This will keep things off your counter space and use airspace that normally isn’t used for anything.

Consider installing shelving units on a wall and putting items that normally end up all over your RV onto these shelves. Since storage is hard to come by in an RV, this helps free up cabinet and counter space.

Use Velcro And Magnets

Using velcro and magnets can be a great kitchen hack, but it also works for bedrooms, bathrooms, and your tools and supplies.

Use velcro or magnets to keep kitchenware like knives stored next to the sink, which frees up space in your drawers. Velcro is a great way to stick TV and DVD remotes in a place you know they’ll never disappear again.

Use the Space Under the Bed

Last, use space under the beds and other places. Find or build small roll-out drawers and use the space under the bed that is usually just wasted space.

You can keep all kinds of things like linens or dishes in this space, and you’ll be amazed at how much space those things take up — and how much space it frees up when they are out of sight under a bed.
